I can't stand to be away from the ocean. But i also live on the east coast where winters are far from warm and forgiving. I have been searching for a hobby to help me survive the boredom until next spring. Recently, my older sister has introduced me to the wonderful world of running , and being the adrenaline junkie that i am, i've decided a 26.2 mile race is what i want. This blog will be my story, as winter nears, and training for my first marathon begins...

the long awaited blog...

four months later i finally post a blog.

I've been running. A lot.
When i haven't been working out for a while (in this case since the Army 11.4 miler) it takes a whole lot of will power to get my a$$ up and actually go to the gym. This time of year, with the schedule i work (bartending/waiting tables 4pm - 1 am-ish) and the fact that i suffer from self diagnosed Seasonal Affective Disorder, I tend to sleep all day, watch TV, go to work, and repeat. A couple of weeks ago, for unknown reasons, i went to the beach, and started running. It sucked. I was more out of shape then i thought. But that was all it took. One good run along side my best friend the ocean, and i was hooked once again. I've been everyday since. If not a long run on the beach in the mornings, than a tough workout at the gym. I love the calming effect that comes with a good long run. It centers me, makes me feel good for the rest of the day. It's a wonder why i always take months off. I don' t like new years resolutions, but maybe, just maybe, this time i won't take "time off" (other than a few resting days here and there)

32 days until the Myrtle Beach 1/2 Marathon with Holly! I'm very excited. Last year this same 1/2 marathon was my first ever race. I trained for maybe a week before hand. I had a good time, but lost holly around mile 10, and ended up sprinting/walking the last three to try and catch up with her, only to learn at the finish line that she was still behind me. Needless to say, due to my lack of training, i hurt my foot pretty bad. Anyways, this year, i will be fully prepared, and i'm excited to enjoy my second 1/2 marathon by my big sisters side!

the long awaited blog...

four months later i finally post a blog.

I've been running.
